FONAR's Stand-Up MRI Goes Prime Time
Leapfrog Advertising Blitz Extends to Television
MELVILLE, N.Y.--(BW HealthWire)--April 30, 2002--FONAR Corporation (NASDAQ:FONR - news), The MRI Specialist(TM), announced it is advertising the FONAR Stand-Up MRI(TM) on television during prime time for the next two weeks.

The advertisements are being aired in the metropolitan New York City area on channel 2. The network coverage includes downstate New York, Long Island, northern New Jersey and eastern Connecticut. The commercials are scheduled to air from April 29 to May 10, 2002.

The schedule is as follows:

Weekday Eastern Time Prime Time Show
------- ---------------- -----------------------------
Monday 9:00 - 9:30 pm Everybody Loves Raymond
Tuesday 11:35 pm-12:35 am Late Show with Letterman
Wednesday 8:00 - 9:00 pm 60 Minutes II
Thursday 9:00 -10:00 pm CSI: Crime Scene Investigator
Friday 11:00 -11:30 pm CBS Late News

The 30-second commercial shows a patient being comfortably scanned in the Stand-Up MRI(TM) - standing, sitting, bending, and lying down. Viewers are told "the company that invented MR scanning has just reinvented the MRI." The patient is informed of the advantages for his physician, such as the detection of problems that only occur under weight-bearing conditions or bending. The company logo, Web address and stock symbol can be seen in the advertisement.

Kurt Reimann, head of marketing, said, "In January, 2002, Leapfrog Advertising was selected to introduce FONAR's Stand-Up MRI(TM) because of its outstanding creative reputation and its unique combination of experience in medical, general, and direct-response advertising. Since then the agency has launched an extensive multimedia advertising campaign, which has included radio, television and print advertising. The results are exactly what we had hoped for - communicating the attributes of the Stand-Up MRI(TM), eliciting an overwhelming response from patients seeking an MRI, a dramatic increase in physician referrals, and numerous solid leads for our MRI sales force."

Tom Attea, a managing partner of Leapfrog Advertising, exclaimed, "We expect this round of advertising to continue to communicate the breakthrough advantages of FONAR's Stand-Up MRI(TM) to the New York City medical community and to patients. All a doctor has to see is the difference in a scan done in the recumbent position, as opposed to one done in the upright position, to realize that FONAR's new Stand-Up MRI(TM) is a vital medical breakthrough. It can make a real impact on how surgeons manage their patient's problem. Patients find that this first True Open MRI(TM) is most appealing."
