We do not assure their well- being under our watch. We eat them, raise them for fur, and use them in experiments. What we do is try to be careful with the various species, and to not be gratuitously cruel. If Tweety can make short work of a battle, then whatever cruelty there might be is not gratuitous, but tailored to a legitimate end........
