Joan, It was exactly the opposite on the way up. The cap weighted indices make things distorted.

Change in psychology maybe. On the way up, there was easy money and the preferred MO was getting long and then sitting on your hands. Now, fear of missing the easy money is replaced with capital preservation, and the preferred MO is to shoot in the face any stock which is heading south.

I think alot of bulls still don't realize that things could get as irrationally negative as they were irrationally bullish back in the good ol' days before these bashers and doomsters showed up. -gg-
