MARKET TALK: Stocks Trying To Salvage Something

3:01 (Dow Jones) Stocks were trying to make a nifty little comeback late
Friday, before softening again. It may be too much to ask out of the Nasdaq
Comp, but a close above 1641 would help - otherwise 1600 and, more likely, 1560
could come into play. To listen to the technicians, a big, sweeping selloff
might be the best thing to happen to the major averages now, as most of the
chart watchers are looking for just that at some point. DJIA off 84 at 10008,
Nasdaq Comp drops 23 to 1621, and S&P 500 sheds 10 to 1074. Jobs report just
injects more uncertainty as to extent of recovery. (TG)
