"Also, mentioning bankruptcies is a red- herring. The difference is that those businesses that can't cut it go out of business, while public agencies continue to be subsidized, often at higher levels for perceived failure."

That is false and simplistic. Public agencies do go out of business. Private may go out of business more often, but that relates to the fact that they were poorly structured to begin with. Public agencies must demonstrate a need through measurable and verifiable criteria in front of every interested or expert member of the public. Private agencies need only to convince one person (in the case pf propriatorship), or 3 people (i the case of a corporation).

Both private and public agencies can be inefficient and deserving of criticism. But, it would be prejudicial and foolish to hold a general criticism against the individuals who educate themeselves and demonstrate competencies in order to deserve employment within these public or private concerns.

Taxpayers have a interest in how and where their money is spent. This is obvious. The rest follows.

I have as much critical commentary on individual public or private concersn as I suppose most people do (leaving aside extremists and lowbrows). Criticism on and specific level supported by facts is fine. Prejudice and flippancy as to th equality of communityb life is not. The biggest detractors of government are often those who benefit the most. But they just don't have a clue.

I'm in a rush, but aIll be back later...
