Sam: The absurdity is that options are supposed to be used as an incentive to performance. It is absurd to say that top management alone is responsible for performance. I am still hoping a new paradigm based on team performance of the whole company with a better proportionate distribution to all employees will become the norm. Whatever happened Townesend's rule of no employee getting paid more than 20% over his immediate subordinate? In addition option funds should be funded from a portion of the earnings and treated like pension funds. Exercise of options should depend on funds available for distribution from the option fund, not touching existing SE.
