No, armies and police forces have fundamental differences. This police force would be in Palestine by request of the Palestinians, not an invading army. So now I'm picturing the British Armored Cars that were deployed in Northern Ireland as a "police" force. The goal of the Palestinians is still the elimination of the State of Israel, so any "police" force that has to deal with them had better be dressed up like an army. And they will have to be willing to use deadly force.

The Palestinians have asked for an outside peace-keeping force but the Israelis oppose it. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ No, armies and police forces have fundamental differences. This police force would be in Palestine by request of the Palestinians, not an invading army. CB, I fail to see how this would be different from the well armed UNIFIL forces in Lebanon which were requested by Lebanon and are made up of three different armies. Would this new force fire on Palestinians that placed their camps next door and make them fight like men or would it allow the terrorists to use them for human shields? What would they do if the pals fired rockets into Israel in their sight? At best they would go up the chain of command and by the time an answer was returned the terrorists would be long gone. Peace keepers only work if their is a peace to keep. If one side requests the peace keepers not intending peace, the peace keepers become their tools.
