Many bridges to cross...

The Daily Reckoning and Apogee Research recently wondered in print if Cisco is still expensive. To find out, they compared Cisco to Valero Energy, a company with similar revenues. Among the differences between the two, Valero has made more money lately. Nonetheless, Cisco’s market cap is 25 times that of Valero’s.

I watched Wall Street Week this evening to get a dose of reality. I have been brainwashed by the incessant posting of clowns and had come to believe that the road to riches is paved with gold. I needed a reality check and indeed Marshall Loeb and company gave it to me. They didn't even mention gold or precious metals even once. Marshall didn't seem at all bothered by the performance of the market this week. In fact, the Dow was up a little and the NASDAQ was only down around 3% for the week. His guests thought that the recovery was tepid but continuing and that small caps were the best way to profit in this market. They did suggest small cap energy stocks, local banks, and a few other sectors. I fell asleep and missed the other recommendations but they didn't seem at all worried about the economy or the recovery. After a hard week at SI, it is good to get a more objective view of the investment world.
