The market impact of not buying their oil will reduce its price. The rest of the world cannot make up for the loss of US purchases. The price would drop dramatically. The reduction in M.E. purchases would only continue for a couple of years, to be a significant motivator. Otherwise, you're right, we're draining our resources instead of theirs. This is just a start on the real solution: a sustainable energy economy, rather than depending on fossile fuels and terrorist suppliers.
