That is so interesting.

This made me giggle:

Vatsyayana...writes that he composed the book "in chastity and in the highest meditation."

This made me lol:

...a description of what a woman should do when her husband is unfaithful. Burton's text: "She should not blame him excessively, though she be a little displeased. She should not use abusive language toward him, but rebuke him with conciliatory words."

But the original text says quite the reverse, Ms. Doniger said, and should read, "She scolds him with abusive language when he is alone or among friends."


This made me wonder if anything is ever new:

The Kama Sutra is about pleasure in a much broader sense... good food and good drink, wearing beautiful silk clothing, going on picnics, listening to good music.
