Sorry, Charley.

Your memory of what happened here appears to have been more accurate than mine.

It always startles me when your memory of my memory is better than my memory or same. In this case, the story appears much more interesting than I remember remembering. I hope her book is successful. Even more, I hope it's good.

The Justice Department's first odd behavior--the subpoenaing of all copies of Ms. Leggett's work--seems, as Dave Kopel has written in National Review, to indicate that it was less concerned with finding out what she knew than with keeping everyone else from finding out what she knew.
I hope there are some Congressional hearings on this matter where some congresscritters stick some long, sharp needles into Ashcroft. Subpoenaing copies is one; thing "all copies" is quite another.
