Hi Joan,

I saw that on the FOX "Bulls and Bears" show this morning. It was the 1st time I can recall that any of the regulars has suggested buying a gold mining stock as if it were a normal stock and without derision from the others. On the 4th show of the weekly FOX business/market quartet, "Cashin'In", Jonathon Hoenig is a regular who has been recommending gold mining stocks like BVN, NEM, and GG for quite a while, maybe longer than a year. Today, one of the other panelists thanked Jonathon for recommending GG, which he had bought and profited from.

I am noticing that debt and bankruptcies are getting a lot of media attention lately. Cavuto today made the following points...

1. Average household credit card debt is $8536
2. All-time high 1.5 million personal bankruptcies
3. All-time high number of late credit card payments

In my view, the yogurt is only going to get deeper.

Regards,

vt

Joan -- Do we have a supply problem? -- the markets are worried because the Russian court overturned a deal to restructure of Norilsk Nickel. Also... rumours are abound that both China and India are big buyers on the international markets, which have depressed inventories ... General Motors (one of the world largest user of base metals) has also stated it will increase auto production.

...and nickel use has shot through the roof here locally in Edmonton due to the ice pack and the high demand for skates.
