So can we safely assume that you would have voted for Barry Goldwater in 1964? Chuckle. Very good. One of the more interesting things about Caro's work is that all the things he's writing now about Johnson were deeply felt in the liberal wing of the Texas Democratic party in the 50s and 60s. Just that no one had the goods. Caro got the goods. As for Goldwater, as I understand it, he turned out to be a fine human being. Just forgot to update his political convictions from the latter part of the 19th century.
