I don't want to do battle with the bears on this thread. They all have good rationales for their bearish positions and have their minds made up.

But, I'm an optomist by nature and I enjoy being a contrarian, so I'm trying to make a bullish or at least a nuetral case in the face of all the bearishness that prevails on this thread.

All in good fun. I enjoy reading the bears make their case. I have an open mind and learn quite a bit from them. I'm on the bullish side, they're on the bearish side. That's what makes a market! :-)

BTW, I'm about to go through my 3 year computer replacement cycle. My PC is getting overburdened these days with all the background programs running. So, I'm going to call DELL next week and help the tech sector out.

The ramping up of technology within the greater economy in the late 90's was the aberration as were the bubble valuations.

Exactly. That is what tech bulls missing.
Even if the economy picks up significantly, tech spending will be nothing like it was in the 1990s. Even a PC buying cycle (to replace pre-Y2K PCs) can only result in temporary surge...and not be sustainable over a longer period.

In the best case scenario, many of the tech stocks can grow into their PEs. Too big of a gamble to take, imho. A lot can go wrong along with the way; and it probably will.
