Dear Monica:

Where can I buy a Prestonia?

A Itanium 2?

Neither is released. At least the Itanium 2 is supposedly shipping to computers that so far have not sold yet. Prestonia is not even taped out yet as far as I know.

X86-64 Linux is available. You can download it like any other version of Linux complete with compilers, utilities, applications, servers and such. Granted it takes work, but that is normal for a new release. It usually takes 3 to 6 months for a new kernel to be packaged into one of the major distributions. It takes MS 2-3 years to do the same. Suse probably has one available since they are the developers on it and they have annouced support for it already.

Of course you know that Linux is running on more servers than MS Windows any edition. Its even more skewed towards Linux overseas. And with MS's licensing and support policies, the Linux server (and desktop) marketshare is trending up.
