The Republican party has come up with an innovative way to solicit campaign contributions. I haven't
searched the net for an article but again I heard about it tonight on ABC news. As I recall, the person
on tv got a letter that told him he had been chosen for an award or committee that deals with
businessmen. When he phoned the number in the letter, he was told that the party would like to list his
name in an advertisement in the Wall Street Journal. I believe it is at that point the person is asked for a
$300 to $500 contribution. Part of the money would go towards the ad. I don't recall how much the
Republican party gets.

The person in charge of the innovative program is a Republican Senator from Virginia. He is also a
fund raiser for the Republican party.

The person who was contacted by the Republicans and featured on the news was from Wisconsin. He
said he wasn't a Republican so he doesn't know why he was contacted initially. Hopefully, there
will be a good story on the net about the Republican scheme.
