Hi HJ, and yes I'm still knocking CSCO but not too hard, I would add!

<<Many analysts even say the company will beat estimates this year by a penny or two due to cost cutting and improved profit margins, as well as continued market share gains. >>

WOW ! And i thought they had pretty much worked through the huge component inventory they wrote off last year! Silly me! LOL!

<<While the telecom market remains weak -- with carriers still slashing spending >>

The corp enterprise market also remains weak. Somebody should inform the author of this shocking fact.

<< ''I don't see it being anything other than a bumping along, waiting for times to get better,'' Asher said. >>

That's pretty much my take on it too. But in the meantime many of CSCO's traditional competitors will go out of business.

<< ''We look for Cisco cash balances to increase again to over $22 billion, underlining the arsenal of resources that may be applied to pressure cash-strapped rivals such as Nortel (NT.TO) (NT.N) and Lucent (LU.N) over the next few years,'' Lehman Brothers analyst Tim Luke said in a research note. >>

CSCO's best chance for any real earnings comes from interest on their cash. Hey what are the mkt valuation ratios for banks these days? <gg>

<<Chief Executive John Chambers has said repeatedly Cisco has no plans to acquire a large competitor and will focus on small- and medium-sized privately held companies that offer emerging technologies. >>

Of course - those co's don't stand a chance of being brought public for the next two yrs so Chambers can buy them cheap.

BTW, every Q CSCO delivers a list of one-time items. Any ideas on what the bad-news one-times will be this time?
