When the leading males give orders, we comply [or become human sacrifices]. There has been millions of years of training and genetic selection for compliance with alpha males. The Mullahs give edicts and Papally Infallible rules and who is going to give a counterpoint? If they say the earth is flat and the universe circles us, then that's how it is and any smart-aleck Galileo or Socrates or any other potential defiant types will soon be shown the exit.
