Hi Merry, <<So... what's your opinion on tsingtao?>>

Back in early 1989, I had helped San Miguel set up their Canton (Guangzhou) brewery in that I did the strategy study justifying leasing an old brewery in China, ramp it up and sell out of the land under their brewery in Hong Kong to, who else, Cheung Kong, Li Kai-shing's flagship company.

I had visited about 50 large breweries in China and sampled many high cost 45-day fermented beer (the stuff on the normal market is 7-12 day fermentation) and gained almost 25% weight within 6 months period (did back to back distribution study for ice cream in Philippines).

Let me see if I can still do the consulting-speak properly:

(a) the market is large
(b) price point is stable
(c) competition is tough
(d) management can still be distracted by flim flam diversification schemes
(e) better hunting elsewhere

Did I forget to mention gold lately:0)

Nap time, as in right now.

Chugs, Jay
