I'm of the opinion that it had its chance to do that and failed -- need about 3 more pts down for another try. Also, I think the article Les posted nailed it -- US wants lower dollar, but a SLOW move down ... interesting experiment. Have to see how it goes. I really think the strikes in Germany will have little to do with it or even whether their economy is cooling down ...

when was the last year the u s had a trade surplus? wasn't a very bright peanut farmer criticized when the deficit ballooned to $50 billion/year?

certainly wouldn't be surprising.. but everyone being bearish won't be the reason cuase they're not.
