"All it does is take you to page that won't open, then when you click "Back" Minesweeper opens. Scary huh?"

i read the wirednews article closer and see that the exploit is mainly for ie6.0, and then some combinations of browsers and os's beyond that.

"Sandblad tested the exploit with Internet Explorer 6.0 on Windows 2000 and XP systems. Further tests by Wired News showed that the exploit also works with various combinations of Internet Explorer 6.0 and 5.5 on computers running Windows 2000, NT 5.0, XP and 98."

i'm currently running ie5.5 on w2k

maybe that's why the minesweeper thing doesn't open.

also, langa mentions that "Symantec offers a free "n o s c r i p t . e x e" download that lets you turn your Windows Scripting Host on or off". i downloaded and installed that symantec goodie in march of 2001, then disabled WSH #reply-15487417 , so maybe i'm protected against this vulnerability.
