Monica, here's another one for you.

"Conclusions
There's no reason to mince words about this one. Intel has clearly and unambiguously taken the performance lead away from AMD now. The faster front-side bus speeds are helpful, as is the clock speed boost to 2.53GHz. Combined, the Pentium 4 has enough extra performance to beat out the Athlon XP 2100+ in all but a few of our tests."

tech-report.com

It should be mentioned that this site has traditionally been quite favorable to the Athlon, but even as they continue to use Athlon favored tests, more and more results are being shifted to the Pentium 4, so it's no wonder that they decided to give a very favorable review.

The only thing that concerns me is the absence of 1066MHz RDRAM, something that every reviewer so far has failed to get their hands on. I guess it's a feather in Intel's cap for the future, but I'm sure it would definitely tilt a few more benchmarks at this point.

I'm actually hoping that the i845G supports DDR333, as Tom's Hardware suggested last week. If that's true, then Intel may have yet another short term performance boost. Notice in the review that Intel's DDR266 based i845 system does quite well.
