But I see more pissing and moaning by HP people than CPQ. Weird Wally is more representative of HP than most people would like to hope. His negativity, more than anything else, is going to be the problem that the combined company has to overcome, not a bunch of name calling on stock boards." Some of the pent up anger over the merger that is resulting in scorn towards ex-CPQ shareholders here, assumed (incorrectly) to have voted FOR rather than AGAINST the merger, is disturbing. If this is indicative of the rage felt by a segment of ex-HWP employees and they take out their rage on their new colleagues from ex-CPQ, we are in trouble. Forget HP "culture." Forget CPQ "culture." All this negative posturing about ex-CPQ employees better get with the system? I find this negative and disturbing. What is important at this stage is that ex-HWP employees, on all levels of the totem pole, who now are working with an influx of ex-CPQ people, welcome these people, treat them with the same respect they themselves want and give to their colleagues who are ex-HWP. They are all one and the same now, employees of the same company, working towards the same goal. There should not be any second class citizens or symbolic representations within the group. WW threw in the towel. It's now time for his employee supporters to throw in the towel, too. Those who have become so blinded with hatred over this merger? I hope most of them are part of the 15,000 job cuts. In closing, bringing my posting back to shareholder discussion: 1. Kirk ended one of his postings to me with, "Welcome to HP!" This is the only statement of welcome I have seen by any ex-HWP shareholder to ex-CPQ shareholders. No HWP shareholder came over to the CPQ thread when it was known the merger was a done-deal and invited us over to the HWP thread (with some kind of statement that SI would be requested to change the stock symbol to HPQ *and* the subject line "Hewlett Packard" to the correct corporate name "Hewlett- Packard"). 2. Dave seems so adament that people go over to the HWP thread? Well, I propose that the HWP thread remain obsolete *but* that this thread recognize that many [not all--some HPQ shareholders are new] of it's posters originally came from the HWP and CPQ threads by changing the name of the person who started it from me to "Stan Standridge and Mr. Chip" in that order--the CPQ thread was started more than one month before the HWP thread. Unless anyone is opposed, I'll drop both PM's [the text of which I shall share here] tomorrow morning. Regards, Lynn
