Copenhagen, May 6 (Bloomberg) -- Vestas Wind Systems A/S, the world's largest maker of windmills, won orders from the U.S. and Ireland worth as much as 700 million kroner ($86 million).

The Danish company said it received an order from Cannon Power Corp. of the U.S. for 62 mills worth more than 200 million kroner for a wind park near Palm Springs, California, according to a statement to the Copenhagen stock exchange....

....U.S. lawmakers are extending tax credits for wind power for two years, boosting demand for turbines from utilities there. Vestas is setting up production in Oregon with 1,000 workers to tap into increased demand for its turbines and compete with U.S.- based rivals such as General Electric Co.

Too bad that the 50s thinking Cheney/Bush coal/oil/nuclear team can't see that clean energy creates jobs and decreases our dependency on foreign oil. What a pleasure to see forward thinking leaders in California soving energy problems.
