The whole economic and political world situation looks more and more like seventies. One major difference is in 70's everybody knew who is behind what, Red Brigades and other terrorist networks were sponsored by Soviets, OPEC was to blame for high oil prices.

At present terrorists are bred as purebred Americans like Kaczynski or Timothy McVeigh, could be of Islamic origin but from destroying Twin Towers Arabs didn't gain anything in political terms. Oil is not controlled 100% by OPEC any more, yet the prices are kept high enough to keep potential recovery under the lid. Public is learning in very fast pace not to trust official declaration.
