Unemployment bad? MISH! I am shocked to see you say such a thing! Unemployment is GOOD, because it drives fear into the hearts of the remaining workers, thus causing them to work harder and harder and harder!

augieboo says everybody buy Starbucks, because workers in fear need lots of caffeine. <g>

The Federal gov pumped a large amount of money into end demand. That inflates output and productivity temporarily, just the same as making cheap credit available. If productivity was really an issue, the jobs wouldn't be lost in manufacturing and the jobs wouldn't be moving offshore.
