The Midwest is about to hand the Republican party an edge in both houses of Congress that will last through and beyond Bush's two terms. The greatest enemy of our nation, the American left, will be marginalized for at least a generation, if not permanently, by the elections of 2002 and 2004 (a trend that began with the Bush victory in 2000). Thus, Bush will sign the Farm Bill, as would any president we have ever had. And the Dems who passed it will look as stupid as they deserve to look when they talk about Social Security "trust funds" this Fall.
