Connor: Mutual Fund dollar cost averaging is a concept devised by the mutual fund industry to keep the fundholders sending in money. The pitch goes something like this: "If you send us a set amount each month, or each quarter, you will buy more fund shares if they decline...and thus your dollar cost average will decline...and over time you will do very well."
