I didn't like the excecutions and margin policy on Scott Trade, also account value was frequently off.

Datek has a very liberal intraday margin policy that could more than make up for the extra cost of the trades.

David, I haven't used either one, but these folks might have some opinions for you:

SI Datek Thread -- they seem quite worried about the (impending?) buy out by Ameritrade.
Subject 5957

SI Scottrade Thread -- not much action there, but try asking for opinions and see if anybody wakes up.
Subject 52666

There is also a pretty active Scottrade group on Motley Fool, if you happen to be a member.

Many folks on SI who make lots of trades seem to use Interactive Brokers, (IB). You pay a monthly fee for the data stream, but the trades are DIRT cheap -- $0.01 each for first 500 shares and $0.005 for the rest up to 5k shares with a $1.00 minimum; options contracts are cheap too, I think. Here is their thread: Subject 32122

Jerry Medved, the creator of the very nice (freeware) Quote Tracker software deals with the technical side of all the online brokers, so you should ask him what he thinks. (I can't swear to it, but I'm pretty sure he does NOT like Scottrade's data feed.) Subject 22551

HTH,

augie

p.s. In case you're wondering, I've been shopping for a new broker myself, which is why I've got all these threads bookmarked. (:
