The claim against McDonalds had some plausibility. After all, the possibility of spilling coffee is not small, and it is bound to happen from time to time. McDonalds keeps the temperature up so high that it is bound to make serious burns unless you are wearing a heavy fabric, like denim or courduroy. Thus, one could make a case for foreseeability, and therefore negligence. On the other hand, there is no inherent right to not be offended, and if one finds an exchange unpleasant, it is easy enough to break off..........
