Certainly there is no shortage of addictions in this country, but if more recreational drugs were legalized there is no question that there would be companies that would ruthlessly and legally promote their use.

I noticed you put a condition on this statement. So I can understand your post better, do you feel that someone being shot and killed over a drug deal, or someone shooting someone because they are high on drugs are drug related deaths or are the guns "responsible"? Your statement above makes it look like you believe the guns are responsible, which does not make sense to me.
