John - AMD planned to lay off 1000 workers from Fab 14 and Fab 15 - and made no announcement about layoffs from Fab 25 last September.

What likely happened is that 200 workers from Fab 14 and Fab 15 left voluntarily, so they wouldn't need to be laid off.
Deteriorating financials are most likely the reason that 200 additional workers from Fab 25 are being laid off.

AMD expected to lay off 1,000 workers in Austin, yet only 800 were laid off. Apparently a couple hundred were let go last quarter already, bringing the total to about 1000.

No, 400+600 = 1000, as previously stated:

"The job cuts are expected to hit nearly 600 workers at the company's older chip factories, Fab 14 and 15, which are expected to close in June. The company first announced the closing of those factories, which primarily make communications-related chips, in September. AMD cut about 400 jobs at the older factories in November."

But 400+600+200 = 1200:

"But this week AMD will also notify an additional 200 workers at a newer facility that their jobs will be eliminated."
