The parallels between alcohol prohibition and drug prohibition are in almost perfect correlation, including the mindless opinions that drove the "War on Demon Rum" for most of a century-until they made the "Big Mistake" after WWI.

Study the 19th century-especially if you've already studied the 20th (which few Americans have, our universities being in the wretched state they are in). It's fascinating...
