What WAS isn't always what IS, and rarely is ever WHAT WILL BE.
Do a chart on Enron prior to mid summer 2001 and compare them to their competitors. I'm not implying that IBM is Enron, but last summer alot of people were convinced that Enron was unassailable. We know better.
Nothing is a guarantee. I happen to feel that, at this point, HPQ represents a value because they are better as a combined company competing with IBM/Dell/EMC than they are on their own competing with the same companies AND each other (they did compete on several levels).
This merger eliminates huge competitive costs, as well as some large internal operational costs.
It creates a possibility that they can launch into new markets and/or expand old ones.

Simplistic thinking gets simplistic results. I happen to think that their plan is good, and it now comes down to execution.

Consider that I opposed the merger...but at some point you have to stop thinking and s**t or get off the pot. I happen to think, at this point, there is merit. I may not a year from now, or 6 months from now. We'll see.

You don't think so. Good for you. Park your money in something that you feel is better. That's what makes a market.
