Well first of all, the Israeli Arabs have not been asked their opinion. They are usually derisively called "fat cats" by their Palestinian cousins, and generally speaking have no wish to trade Israeli rule of law, with all its imperfections, for the tender mercies of the PA. I must admit, the exact same thought occurred to me. That indeed would be an obstacle. Second, this reasonable-sounding diplomatic plan has nothing whatsoever in common with the Palestinian position, which is, unlimited right of return. What do they care if the ancestral village is now part of the suburbs of Tel Aviv? Show up en masse and demand that the UN continue to feed them, that's the program. If the Palestinians cannot be negotiated out of this "destruction of Israel" position, war seems to be the only answer -- shall they just get started? --fl@i'drathertrysomethingelse.com
