re: manu

It's hazardous to our financial health to be in love with companies during bear markets!

Well, thats easy for you to say, you are a financial guy and I'm a software person! <gg>

Manu really got hit today, interesting to see it down 33% partly due to the software licensing component of sales being below target.

What do you make of it?

I listened to the cc yesterday and it was incredibly upbeat, they added some new clients. They are being invited into sites where they once where shut out by i2. (i2 once worth 20x manu valuation). Thats the good news. The bad news is i2 and some other software players are on their knees and willing to do almost anything to win a deal. Manu has a new product suite that can't easily be knocked off... by anybody but i2.

here was a discussion about what a desperate i2 can do to manu.

But this is all speculation wrt anybody taking manu's thunder. I'm sure the downgrade by CSFB was purely sector-driven and had nothing to do with a "license revenue shortfall", besides manu's last qtr exceeded csfb's license numbers by 50%.

Manu has no presence in the lucrative silly valley mkt and just last week they opened a huge bldg on 101 out here. I'll bet they sign a whole bunch of semi's and telco's in the next 6 mos. I'll wait for the carnage to subside in software and add to manu here, my guess is it rallies back to teens pretty quickly.
