"HP is now No. 1 in servers and No. 1 in external storage."

I said HPQ is behind IBM and SUNW in high end UNIX servers. ASk HWP - they will admit this. HPQ is #1 in low end Wintel servers that sell for maybe $3k-$20k per box. SUNW and IBM lead in the high end where the servers sell for $100k-$1million per box.

I also said HPQ is behind EMC/IBM/Hitachi in high end storage, again where the systems sell in the $100k range. HPQ's storage position is better than their server position, but they are not leaders in the high end.

HPQ is the leader in the lower cost, lower end, more quick to commoditize storage and server areas - which they will likely eventually lose share to Dell. Dell is gaining every year in low wend servers, and is entering low end storage. Who do you think Dell gains share from? Not the providers of $100k systems which require service and installation support. Dell gains from the low end area where the box is cheap and easier to install. That's HPQ's space.

Ask HPQ, they will agree. This is not secret news.
