OT/John. "A Movable Feast"

Oh yes. Excellent. Read it in the 60s in college. Hemingway's account of the expatriot community in Paris during the 20s, if memory serves. Fascinating window - from his perspective in that stellar group - into the personas of Gertrude Stein, Scott Fitzgerald, Zelda and the others. The imagery with which he described the fragility of Fitzgerald's great creative gifts has stayed with me ever since. "Papa" could sure turn a phrase.

Sweet Thursday was about as humorous as Steinbeck gets. Some of it is quite funny. Focus is on local California coast culture and shares some similarities with Cannery Row. Been a long time since I read either. But if you liked one, the other would probably be entertaining as well.

Not read Travels With Charlie. Have heard it's very good too.

Literature really isn't my thing. More of a history and archeology buff. Matter of fact, this is last post of the day. Time to log out and read more of the biography of Sir Francis Drake I found over the weekend in this really cool old bookstore.<g>

Cheers,
