Fred, Forget settlements for the moment. What about the land that they are on. It is my understanding that many military folks here and there think this "high ground" was and still is essential for israels defense. Imagine a situation where sadams army has moved thru jordan to attack israel. Only way to stop them is hold that high ground or use weapons that will destroy massive army--tactical Nukes?? So given the above does israel hold this geography? mike PS I agree with your view of the settlements, not necessarily with the disposition of the land. mike
