Shaking hands?

You better cut down on the sweets, hummingbirds are attracted to sugar water.

The hummers around here are quite nonchalant about humans and dogs and often hover around our faces. Today, I was working in the flower garden below the hummingbird feeders while a couple of hummers kept dropping down to check out my hat. Sometimes they hover around the dogs' faces. The dogs aren't usually too thrilled. One of them gets up and moves to her favourite hiding place under the porch if she gets buzzed for too long. I imagine she is thinking much the same thing as you, "Whew, look at that beak!!"
