I remember that. I'm glad to see that the term is becoming acceptable since there really isn't a good alternative. There are lots of words that don't really make sense. I suppose that when the term, anti-Semite, was coined, there weren't any other Semitic peoples in the picture. I think that thinking too much about the origin or words, like homophobe, make you a little nuts. Words mean what they mean. How they got there may have been a tortuous path. Look at flammable and inflammable. They mean the same thing. Doesn't get and stranger than that.
