(I was 17 at the time, John, so I had a good excuse for being for Stevenson.)

Fascinating (and all the thread watchers will get a kick out of old farts talking about the past), in the fall of 52, I was a senior in high school in central Texas, taking the third or fourth version of required Texas history. I can still visualize the teacher, an absolute hack, which we all, of course, knew at the time, probably a coach, though I can't recall for certain, just preaching, preaching, preaching that we had to get our parents to vote for Ike because Ike would let Texas keep its offshore oil wells. I was still too young to vote.

My first presidential vote was in 56. Got to vote for Stevenson.
