Sorry, I was oversimplifying. Most of what was defined as Palestine became Jordan, but was established before the partition. The UN proposal would have created a large Arab sector surrounding Jerusalem, with small elements of a Jewish state in pockets around the periphery. Nevertheless, the Zionists officially accepted it (however unhappy various factions were), and the Arabs officially rejected it. On this basis, it was never truly implemented, and became moot with the War of Independence. However, during that war, Jordan did manage to hold territory on the West Bank, which it formally annexed in 1950, and held it until '67.
