Is he considered conservative or right wing by the local Dutch press? Generally when a term like "right wing" gets attached to a subject there is an initial news organization's story which is essentially copied by the rest of the press. It could be interesting to see where the story broke and if it is covered in the same terms in the foriegn press.

My initial impression from the overseas (English language) press is that Pim Fortuyn was considered right wing because of the makeup of his supporters and political alliances. He was generally allied with neo-fascists. He used his gayness as a shield from idiological critisism much like J.C.Watts or Clarence Thomas use their race to counter the extremes of their positions.
