Textbookworthy young jedi. I can only add that these corrections can (more often than not) take on more unpredictable shapes like expanded flats, double-3's or other freaky flattish/zig-zaggy things.

For instance, I defer to the Jan/01 rally which looks like its 'b' retraced 84% of the initial rise and then had a slightly imperfect triangle/diagonal for the 'c' which travelled 138% of the 'a' and took a lot longer.

Hi Allan, a B wave can also be equal to the A wave, in a flat A - B - C correction, right.

and we do sometimes see irregular B waves where the B wave is 1.236 or 1.382 of the A wave.... I realize you are probably looking at a specific market set up at the moment.

a B wave would rarely be .382 of an A wave. It's not often less than a .618, in my experience.

John

Looks like we will gap down a little at open...my short appears safe (if I wish to bail/set stop)...

Wiggle question....I'd think the odds favor- regardless if the down this morn is a 4 of 3, a 4 of a larger degree, or the start of a B- I'd think the odds favor a brother leg to the down at open (assuming it occurs). In other words, the low odds (?) play is that we go straight up from any down gap, and don't look back...

If we would go straight up after little down open), i have no clue how that would count here...also, that would be quite a trick w/near-term stochastics against the ceiling (practically all day yesterday)....A DOJI day today with near-term stochastics getting burned off, if it were to occur, should be seen as a major victory for the bull case, IMO.

Thanks, AA, for taking the time to give a rookie a roadmap.
