Cal Thomas, is very familiar with the Middle East and politics. I greatly respect him, and he is the #1 Op-Ed columnist in the US, just ahead of George Will! The Middle East problem is not intensified by Sharon!

Similar to what they did at Entebee (Idi Amin), Iraq etc. Go in their and smoke them out of their foxholes and ensure that civilian casualties are near zero. Yes those terrorists will use human shields. But like any civilized country, they need to consider if it is worthwhile to let 2 terrorists flee from behind a human shield of 1 person and save the life of that innocent civilian. Then maybe Israel will succeed in winning over the civilian Palestenians.

Hamas is deep inside the Arab cities and 'refugee camps'. Of course they are using the population as human shields. If the IDF goes in, there will be some civilian deaths, no matter how carefully they act. So saying 'go in as long as you guarantee no civilian deaths' means, don't go. And that only proves to Hamas that they have nothing to lose by keeping up the suicide bombing.
