Del,

I'm not saying that Enron didn't gouge California. I'm saying that your statement that the Bush (43) administration was (as you said) "protecting Enron while they were manipulating energy prices in California by not at least putting a price cap on electricity" is stretching things.

The truth is that, the first Bush appointed commissioners to the FERC weren't sworn in till May of 2001 - a year after the crisis began. This means that for the first year of the crisis, Mr. Wood wasn't even on the FERC. Shortly after, the addition of the new members, the FERC changed the price cap (lower) in California to (yes there was a price cap - not a very good one), I believe, the entire region (western states)-all the time.

Until May of 2001, there was a two Democrats and one Republican on the FERC, and all three were placed there by President Clinton. For the first seven months of the crisis, there was also a Democrat as the chairman of the FERC (and a Democrat as President). No, I am not saying that President Clinton was protecting Enron either.
