Today looks like a reversal day.

Since going below the 200DMA last month, the SOX has repeatedly tested that line from below, without being able to break above it.

My plan: Selling semis (and, even more so, semi-equips), with the SOX in the 500-525 area, and buying back in increments on the upcoming dip. I will buy aggressively (AMAT, ALTR, TXN) with the SOX in the 450-500 area, as I think we don't take out the 9-10/01 lows (at least not on the next dip).

Lee... I can sympathize with you... But essentially where corporations were hiring for fear of not being able to obtain qualified people to fuel their growth, and pay through the nose in wages and benefits, this is no longer the case.

A friend of mine who's in the air force, remarked about how he attended a Cisco router training course several years back.. It seems the instructor (from Cisco) had an extensive limit on his expense account and would regularly take his entire class of students out for high priced dinners, buying expensive bottles of wine to boot...

Those days are gone, I would presume... Now people are fearing for their jobs, or being laid off only to be hired back as "consultants" at a lower wage (with few, or no, benefits)..

Or they are finding themselves not only do their jobs, but also those of the people who have been laid off, fired, or "motivated" to leave.. This is something that I can personally relate to..

They are cutting out the fat, and workers are working longer hours with fewer complaints because they don't want to be the next person to receive a pink slip.

So I don't argue with the productivity numbers because they reflect what I perceive is the case... make your people do more with less and boost the corporate bottom line so they can eliminate debt.
