cl2 and cl3 refer to class latency (spelling check needed here) .. without getting crazy about it, Cl3 is a bit slower than cl2.. Some people will argue it makes no difference, but it sure made a difference with my motherboard.. I was at a computer show, pikced up some 512mb crucial memory and it was labeled cl2.. it was really cl3.. my machine was too fast, and the memory kept failing..

Im sure a techie could tell you better.. I only go by what I hear/experience.. but CL3 is generally much cheaper.. Typically youll see it as value-ram link simple or kingston..
