The numbers presented aren't skewed, its simple gross production per person. You can argue that they don't give a good picture of reality but they are not distorted or skewed.

The black middle class is growing in this country but its still a relatively small part of the total black population.

No it isn't. Its about half of the black population. If you throw in those who are doing better then just middle class you get a majority of the population. (Maybe not a vast majority but better then 50%) Of course it depends on how exactly you define middle class but by any reasonable measure the black middle class is not a small part of the black population in the US.
